
Egypt and Liverpool striker, Mohammed Salah has been named in Senegal on Tuesday CAF African Player of the Year for the second successive year.
The 26-year-old Egyptian took the title ahead of Liverpool teamate Sadio Mane of Senegal and Arsenal and Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Salah scored 44 goals in all competitions for Liverpool last season — his first with the Anfield club.
He has netted 13 Premier League goals so far this season, one short of Aubameyang, who tops the scorer’s table with 14 goals, alongside Tottenham Hotspur and England striker, Harry Kane.
Other male winners on Tuesday included France-born Morocco coach Herve Renard, the Mauritania national team, and Moroccan Achraf Hakimi in the youth category.
South African Chrestinah Kgatlana won Women’s Player of the Year and South Africa coach Desiree Ellis and the Nigeria national team were the other female winners.
The Goal of the Year award was also awarded to Kgatlana.
Former Manchester City and Ivory Coast star Yaya Toure, with four triumphs, is the record winner of African Footballer of the Year award.
Salah is the second Egyptian after 1983 winner Mahmoud al Khatib to be named Africa’s best footballer.
