The government of President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked Abdullahi Baffa as the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and approved the appointment of Prof. Suleiman Bogoro, as replacement.
This was made known in a statement on Monday evening by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Education, Ben Goong.
The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, said Bogoro’s reinstatement is with immediate effect, ”with the same terms and conditions as it were in his previous appointment and as stipulated in the TETFUND staff conditions of service,” the statement said.
Mr. Bogoro was the executive secretary of TETFund under former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration. But was sacked by President Buhari in 2016.
He was accused of misappropriating N200 billion released earmarked for special intervention projects to beneficiary institutions.
It was alleged that he used the funds for the failed re-election bid of Jonathan in 2015.
The education minister failed to say in the statement if Bogoro’s reinstatement means that he has been cleared of any wrongdoing.
