The Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) has jettisoned its presidential candidate, Oby Ezekwesili and endorsed the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari for president.
The party disclosed the decision in a statement released on Thursday, reacting to reacting to the announcement by the former minister of education that she is withdrawing from the 2019presidential race.
Mrs. Ezekwesili had in a statement Thursday morning announced a shock wittdrawal from the presidential election, saying her decision was reached after studying the political climate, sequel to last Saturday’s presidential election.
She however promised to help build a coalition to defeat the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
It is understood that her decision was resisted by her party.
The ACPN responded, “The Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) is withdrawing support for her presidentia| aspiration and endorsing the second term bid of President Muhammadu Buhari to take Nigeria to the next level.”
