The Court of Appeal Abuja has refused to order a stay of proceedings in the false assets declaration case brought against Chief Justice Walter Onnoghen at the Code of Coduct Tribunal (CCT) by the Federal Government.
The court was of the view that the case against the CJN is criminal in nature and cannot be stopped.
The request brought by Mr Onnoghen “was brought in a vacuum,” without a proper backing of legal provisions why it should have been granted, the court ruled.
