President of the Nigerian Senate, Bukola Saraki has lost in disastrous fashion in his bid to return to the upper legislative chamber, losing all the four local government areas in Kwara central senatorial district announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
INEC had earlier declared the results of the election in Ilorin south, Illorin east and Asa local government areas.
Mr. Ibrahim Oloriegbe of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had lead with 72,277 while Mr. Saraki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is second with 38,919 votes.
The result showed that Oloriegbe was coasting to victory, leading with an almost insurmountable margin of 33,358, with only one local govt to go.
Saraki needed a miracle in Illorin West to cling on to his seat. But that did not happen after INEC announced the results for Illorin west, which Saraki again lost.
The result announced by INEC Sunday evening showed that in Ilorin West,
APC polled 51, 531 while the PDP polled 30,075.
The number of registered voters were 224, 494.
91,130 voters were said to have been accreditated.
The electoral body is expected to officially announce the winner of the Senate seat.
However, based on the results released, Mr Saraki has lost his seat seat.
