
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has defeated the incumbent president, Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the presidential election in Benue State, INEC has announced.
Announcing the results in Makurdi in the early hours of Tuesday, the chief returning officer of the state and vice chancellor of the University of Jos, Sebastian Maimako, said the PDP scored 355,355 while the APC polled 347,668.
Atiku won in 13 out of the 23 local governments, Maimako said.
The PDP candidate won in Governor Samuel Ortom’s local government, while president Buhari won in Senator George Akume’s local government.
