A copy of result sheet from observers released on the internet on Tuesday by civil society group, Hope Nigeria shows that Mr. Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won last Saturday’s Presidential election in Nigeria by over two million votes.
The results indicate that Atiku defeated incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), polling a total of 14,442,550 votes as against Buhari’s 12,275,296.
Contrary to results declared by INEC, the result sheet by the election observers put both Lagos and Osun States in the column of the former vice president.
It reveals that Atiku took Lagos with 548,061 votes. Buhari came second with 480,814 votes.
According to the result sheet, the PDP candidate also won Osun, scoring 357,377, while Buhari got 327,634 votes.
It further hinted that Atiku did better in states like Kano, Katisna, Borno, Kaduna and Yobe than INEC had recorded in its final collation.
According to the results, Atiku also did better in the South-East, South-South and South-West states than INEC had announced.
The PDP had in a statement on Monday rejected the results of the presidential election and summoned its legal team to a Tuesday emergency meeting in Abuja.
There had been widespread accusation of result manipulation, disenfranchisement of voters in Atiku’s strongholds in Lagos, Kano, South-South and South-East – using thugs and security operatives to intimidate the electorate.
PDP vice presidential candidate, Dr. Peter Obi on Tuesday told journalists in his Onitsha residence that INEC “systematically disenfranchised eight million voters in the South-East.”
INEC chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, as the returning officer of the presidential election is still announcing the results at the International Conference Center as at the time of filing this report.
However, earlier in the day, Mr. Osita Chidoka, PDP agent, had raised the issue of his party’s dissatisfaction with the results in Borno and Yobe states, demanding a release of the card reader data for those states.
He wondered how an insecure region, under the threat of Boko Haram, would have a larger turnout of voters than other regions of the country that are peaceful.
Mr. Yakubu promised that his commission will look into the issues raised.
INEC is yet to officially respond to this result, which has gone viral on the internet.
