
Amid the rejection of the results of the 2019 presidential election, President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared the winner by the reurning officer, Mahmood Yakubu, who is also chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declares on Wednesday.
Mr. Yakubu Wednesday morning, at the International Conference Center in Abuja, announced that the 76-year-old incumbent defeated his main challenger, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), scoring 15,197,076 votes in the election held on Saturday, 23 February 2019.
Atiku was said to have got 11,256,945 votes, losing with 3,940,131 votes.
The PDP has rejected the result, citing irregularities, manipulation of results and systematic disenfranchisement of voters in its strongholds.
