Incumbent governor Muhammad Abubakar of Bauchi state, who is seeking re-election, lost his polling unit to Bala Mohammed, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Saturday’s governorship election.
According to results declared by Chinedu Onora, presiding officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at Gindin Durumi polling unit, Mr. Mohammed, former minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), scored 358 votes to beat Abubakar of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who got 288 votes.
The governor had described the election process as peaceful when he cast his vote earlier in the day, promising to accept the outcome of the election as announced by INEC.
In Kano State, PDP candidate, Abba Kabir Yusuf, won the Magwan polling unit, where Nasiru Gawuna, deputy governor of the state, voted.
PDP got 73 votes while APC polled 73 votes there.
