Supporters of Kano State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Abba Yusuf, took to the streets of Kano on Saturday to celebrate an early lead in the gubernatorial election.
The celebration was sparked off by early wins the PDP recorded against Governor Abdulahi Ganduje’s All Progressives Congress (APC) in constituencies of his close allies.
The constituencies included that of the state Deputy Governor, Nasiru Gawuna, and former governor and senator-elect, Ibrahim Shekarau.
The PDP candidate also won at the Magwan polling unit 056, where the deputy governor, Gawuna, voted, scoring 210 votes to defeat Ganduje, who got 197 votes.
Also in PU 022 at the Giginyu Primary School, where Shekarau voted, Ganduje was defeated by Yusuf.
At that unit, PDP polled 143 votes against Ganduje’s 91 votes.
