The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma has reportedly taken a shock lead in last Saturday’s governorship election, Vanguard reports.
Mr. Uzodinma, according to the newspaper is winning in the Local Governments so far announced, while the candidate of the PDP, Emeka Ihedioha is in second position with his large votes in Mbaise LGA.
The candidate of the Action Alliance and son in-law to the governor of Imo state Uche Nwosu is in third.
However, PDP party agents had earlier told CHECKPOINTCHARLEY that Ihedioha was in a comfortable lead.
They had however raised alarm about moves to manipulate the election results.
INEC had announced the suspension of collation of results but Vanguard reported that the exercise commenced again at 1:30pm.
According to the newspaper, Uzodinma is leading in most of the LGAs in Orlu senatorial zone.
Collation of results are still on going as at the time of filing this report.
The election in the state was marred by violence, ballot box snatching, excessive thuggery and burning of INEC office at Ngor Okpala.
