An officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogar Jumbo, has been allegedly killed in Abuja by unidentified lawless police officers in the full glare of his children and wife.

The deceased was beaten to death in the presence of his wife and two children on Tuesday near a military check point close to a branch of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) around Nyanya market.

He was reportedly taking his two children to school in company of his wife when the policemen ordered him to stop.

Ogar, dressed in his uniform, had reportedly made a U-turn at a wrong location to enable him get to the school on time before the police officers, who were on duty in the area, stopped him for failing to comply with traffic rules.

It is understood that Ogar begged the policemen to understand that he was rushing to drop his children in school.

The policemen were not moved and one of them jumped on the bonnet of Ogar’s vehicle, while another attacked him with a baton.

John Ochai, a witness, told the Press that Ogar was allegedly beaten to the extent that his wife had to intervene, while his children begged the policemen to stop beating their father.

Ogar was said to have died when one of the policemen hit him with a baton on the head.
