Gov Lalong Beats PDP’s Useni To Secure Second Term

The Plateau State governor, Simon Lalong of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the governorship election With a total of 595,582 votes, beating his closest rival Jeremiah Useni of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 546,813 votes.

Richard Kirmbi, returning officer for the election, announced the result at the Independent National Electoral Commissioner (INEC) head office in Plateau early Sunday morning.

INEC had declared the March 9 election inconclusive based on the number of cancelled votes being higher than the margin between the two leading candidates in the election.

The supplementary election took place across nine local government areas of the state.
