
There was outbreak of fire at the arrival section of the Sam Mbakwe international cargo airport in Owerri, Imo State on Monday, causing passengers to flee.
The cause of the inferno was yet to be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.
But it is gathered that the inferno, which raged for 50 minutes, started around some minutes past two in the afternoon.
Gallant men of the fire service responded well to quench the fire, preventing heavier damage.
Nevertheless, equipment and infrastructure were said to have been damaged by the fire.
The State Police spokesperson, Orlando Ikeokwu is yet to confirm the incident, saying he is yet to be officially briefed.
