
President Muhammadu Buhari will travel to the United Kingdom today on a “private visit”, his media adviser, Femi Adesina said in a statement on Thursday.
Mr. Buhari will be away till May 5, the statement said without going into much details, except that the president will first make an official visit to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, before leaving for the United Kingdom.
Adesina, said, “Further to the official visit by President Muhammadu Buhari to Lagos Wednesday where he commissioned a number of projects executed by the State Government, the President is scheduled to depart for Maiduguri, the Borno State capital for another official visit Thursday.
“He is expected to commission developmental projects especially in the sectors of education, healthcare and roads.
“At the end of the visit, President Buhari will be proceeding to the United Kingdom on a private visit. He is expected to return to Nigeria on May 5, 2019.”
He however did not indicate if Mr. Buhari will use the opportunity to see his doctors in the United Kingdom, where he had recieved prolonged treatment at least twice for an undisclosed ailment.
In the past, Buhari had spent several months in London on medical trips since he assumed office in 2015.
