
The Katsina emirate council has announced the cancellation of the Sallah Durbar during the forthcoming Eid Fitr to mourn victims of recent bandit attacks in some communities in the state.
Information officer of the emirate, Ibrahim Bindawa said this in a statement, in Katsina, on Saturday, adding however that special prayers would be held after the Eid prayer for sustainable peace in the state and the country at large.
Suspected bandits had recently attacked some communities in the state, killing over 30 people while some animals were carted away.
The affected communities include Mara Zamfarawa village in Danmusa local government area (LGA); Sabon-Layin Galadima community of Faskari LGA; and Yar’Gamji village of Batsari LGA, among others.
He said, “His Royal Highness, the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir has directed me to inform the people of the state that following bandit attacks in some communities in the state, the usual Sallah Durbar will not hold during the Eid Fitr celebration.”
