The Polish police have beefed up security around the flying Eagles hotel in Lodz Poland as they wait for orders to eject the Nigerian players after refusing to leave their hotel over the non-payment of their allowances by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The Nigerian team had crashed out of the Fifa U-20 World Cup tournament in Lodz on Monday and the players were expected to leave the hotel by 3am on Tuesday, in accordance with FIFA’s deadline for eliminated teams.

However, the players said they are going no where until the get their money, a source at the camp told CHECKPOINTCHARLEY.

A change in flight time was said to have been made for the team by the world football ruling body to 12pm, but the players still refused to leave, insisting that they must be paid their winnings, draw bonuses and allowances before leaving for the airport.

This now leaves them at the risk of been thrown out of the hotel as Fifa’s deadline for eliminated teams to vacate their hotels has since expired.

Pleas made by Nigeria’s football officials including Pinnick Amaju, NFF president, to get the players to “understand” fell on deaf ears, the source said.

Owing players allowances and bonuses is an ugly culture in sports administration in Nigeria.
