VIDEO: Shi’ites Protest In Abuja Despite Proscription Order

Shiites-ne protest

Undaunted by the terrorist tag slammed on them by the Federal High Court Abuja, members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) on Monday staged another protest in Abuja, demanding the release of their leader, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, and his wife, Zeenat, who have been in detention since 2015 despite court orders for their release.

The Shi’ites, who converged on Apo area of the city, marched and chanted: “Free El-Zakyzaky”.

Justice Nkeonye Maha of the federal high court had on Friday ordered the proscription of IMN in a ruling in which she also designated the activities of the Shiite organisation in any part of Nigeria “as acts of terrorism and illegality.”

The Shi’ites had described their proscription as a joke and have vowed to keep protesting until their detained leader and his wife are released.
