
In an attempt to thumb dissent and a proposed march planned for Monday, August 5, the government of President Muhammadu Buhari has arrested Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2019 elections, Omowole Sowore, the leader of the #RevolutionNow.
Sowore was arrested by the operatives of the Department of State Services, his online publishing outfit, Sahara Reporters reports.
He was arrested by DSS operatives in the early hours of Saturday at about 1.25 a.m.in his apartment.
Sowore, an activist for social change, had also posted a distress tweet at exactly 1:25 am:

Sahara Reporters said Sowore’s “arrest and detention are not unconnected to #RevolutionNow, a series of planned protests against bad governance in Nigeria scheduled for August 5, 2019.”
It added that an eyewitness confirmed that his phone was forcefully taken from him.
