The federal government of Nigeria has demanded a probe into the killing of China-based Nigerian pastor, Joseph Nwajueze by Chinese police.
The Anambra-born cleric was reportedly killed by Chinese security operatives while trying to escape arrest for alleged visa violations.
In a statement, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, chairman, Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), demanded a thorough investigation into the death of the pastor, saying the culprits must be punished.
It is gathered that the deceased was living with his wife, Chinwe and four children in China before he was allegedly killed by security operatives
Dabiri-Erewa condemned the killing as unjustifiable, regretting the “stigmatization” of Nigerians living in China.
She condoled with the family of Nwajueze, assuring that justice will be served.
Abike Dabiri-Erewa however urged angry Nigerians in China to be patient and not take the law into their hands.
