El-Zakzaky Suffering From Lead Poisoning, May Die, Says Daughter

Suhaila-El-Zakzaky

Suhaila, daughter of Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), has said that her father is suffering from lead poisoning and could die at any moment.

Suhaila said this in an interview with BBC, saying her father needs to get proper medical attention.

She said, “I am really worried… especially because of the lead and cadmium poisoning,” she said.

“His doctors say if he gets to a certain level his organs could start failing and that’s really scary because that means he could just die at any moment.”

The IMN leader and his wife, Zenat had departed Nigeria for India on Monday on medical treatment after a Kaduna High Court granted them leave to travel abroad on medical grounds.

On Wednesday, El-Zakzaky said the situation in India was worse than Nigeria, saying he was caged like a criminal by security operatives.

However, the federal government refuted the cleric’s claim, accusing him of making unreasonable demands.
