
Nigeria has flexed diplomatic muscle over the xenophobic attacks on its citizens by recalling its Ambassador to South Africa, Ambassador Kabiru Bala and also demanded full compensation, the News Agency of Nigeria reported on Wednesday, quoting a “presidential source.”
Nigeria has also reportedly pulled out of the World Economic Summit scheduled to be held in Cape Town, South Africa, from September 4 to 6.
The latest development, it is understood, is to register serious displeasure with the South African authorities over the ongoing xenophobic attacks on Nigerians resident in South Africa.
The decision was said to have been taken at a meeting on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja between President Muhammadu Buhari,Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama.
