IPOB Makes Empty Threats, Will Even Inform Them Before I Travel, Umahi Mocks

Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, has mocked the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as a group that makes empty threats, saying he will even inform them in advance before embarking on oversea trip.

Mr. Umahi said this when he spoke with State House Correspondents after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja on Thursday, noting that, “IPOB have no powers to place travel ban on governors or anyone.”

“I will even tell IPOB any time I intend to travel,” he said, dismissing demand for an apology by IPOB.

“We have no apology for IPOB because we did not proscribe them.”

It was not the governors who proscribed the group but the Federal Government, he added.

“Yes, we are the leaders of the people and we had to speak against their activities.”

IPOB had described South-East governors as traitors, who was among the people that got them proscribed.

The group leader, Nnamdi Kanu had ordered attack on any of them sighted abroad.

The pro-Biafra group also accused the governors and Ndigbo leaders such as the President-General of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, of supporting the Operation Python Dance in the South-East.

It set example with former deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, who was recently assaulted by IPOB members in Nuremberg, Germany, where he had gone to partake in the “Iri Ji” (New Yam Festival), organized by Ndi-Igbo Germany.
