The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, will know his fate tomorrow (Wednesday) as the election petition tribunal will deliver judgement on his petition challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari of the ruling, All Progressives Congress, APC.
A senior member of the petitioners’ legal team, Mike Ozekhome (SAN), confirmed this to the press on Tuesday, saying hearing notice for the judgment was on Tuesday served on lawyers representing the parties to the case.
“I can confirm to you that the judgment will be delivered 9am tomorrow (Wednesday),” Ozekhome said.
Atiku and his party are asking the five-man tribunal, led by Justice Mohammed Garba, to nullify President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory at the poll and either declare them the winner or order the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct a rerun.
In his petition, Atiku, said he defeated Buhari by 1,615,302 votes, basing his claim on information he said was accessed from the server of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to him, he polled 18,356,732 votes to defeat Buhari, whom he said scored 16,741,430 votes.
He also averred that Mr. Buhari was unqualified to run for the highest office in the land because he did not possess the minimum qualification as required by the constitution.
