Is the era of Argentina super star, Lionel Messi at football giants, FC Barcelona grinding to an end?
This question came again to the fore on Tuesday night as the newly crowned world footballer of the year was forced off injured at half-time in the La Liga macth against Villareal.
It has his first start of the season for Barcelona against Villarreal.
Recall that the 32-year-old Barca’s captain has only just recovered from a niggling calf problem, which he sustained at the start of August.
The latest injury appeared to be on his left thigh.
Messi took treatment after half an hour at Camp Nou and while he continued until the interval, he was replaced by Ousmane Dembele for the start of the second half.
Barcelona will hope the problem is not serious as the coach Valverde’s side play at Getafe on Saturday before hosting Inter Milan in their second Champions League group game next Wednesday.
