Nigeria’s Supreme Court on Wednesday unanimously dismissed the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 23, 2019 presidential election.
The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, who led six other members of the apex court’s panel, gave the verdict in a three-sentence judgement.
The CJN said the reasons for the decision would be made known on a later date to be announced.
The court held that Atiku’s appeal lacked merit.
All the other six justices concurred with the decision.
The decision came barely an hour after the court listened to the argument of counsels to the parties.
