Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested the “notorious kidnap kingpin” Stanley Onoriode Ekemaye, who allegedly masterminded the abduction of Chioma Nwosu-Iheme, a justice at the Benin division of the appeal court.
Ekemaye was reportedly arrested by the DSS Tuesday morning at Okwuzi Egbema in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA in Rivers state.
It is understood that he has been coordinating robbery and kidnap operations around the Delta, Edo and Rivers axis for years.
Mrs Francisca Okhiria, wife of the managing director of the Nigeria Railway Corporation and Elizabeth Mekuye, sister-in-law to Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta state are said to be some of his victims.
Both were however later released.
It is also alleged that he masterminded the kidnap of Sylvanus Okogbenin, the chief medical officer of Irrua Speicalist Hospital, who was kidnapped on August 26 in an operation that led to the death of two police offers.
Justice Nwosu was kidnapped on October 30 after being trailed from Ramat Park end of the Benin-Agbor road before her vehicle was intercepted around Christ Chosen Church of God International.
Her police orderly was killed in the operation.
She was released two weeks after her abduction.
