The Department of State Service (DSS) on Thursday night finally released Omoyele Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters, from detention.

This followed the order of Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu on Thursday, who had given the security agency 24 hours to release the convener of #RevolutionNow.

Mr Sowore’s lawyer, Femi Falana, confirmed the release of his client Thursday night and the payment of N100,000 fine to Sowore as ordered by the judge.

His co-detainee, Adebayo Bakare, was also freed.

Mr Sowore was arrested on August 3 for planning protests to demand good governance.

He first met his bail on November 6, one month ago, but he was not released by the DSS.

Earlier, over 30 of half-naked women from Sowore’s birthplace in Kiribo, Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State, had stormed the Federal High Court, Abuja, to protest the illegal detention of their son by the DSS.
