Members of Nigeria’s House of Representatives has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to sack all the service chiefs over the insecurity in the country should they fail to resign.

This was part of the resolutions passed by the House at the plenary on Wednesday, following the unanimous adoption of a motion moved by the Chief Whip, Mohammed Monguno, on the continued attacks by Boko Haram insurgents on communities in the North-East.

Ahmadu Jaha, the lawmaker representing Chibok/Damboa/Gwoza Federal Constituency of Borno State called for the resignation and sacking in the additional prayers he made on the motion.

The House therefore resolved to “call on all the service chiefs to resign immediately, failing which the President should sack them.”

President Muhammadu Buhari continues to retain the service chiefs despite worsening insecurity in Nigeria.
