Imo people again poured to the streets of Owerri on Thursday, protesting what they called imposition of Hope Uzodinma on them as governor.

The protesters carried placards, chanting as they marched through the major streets of Owerri, demanding the return of Emeka Ihedioha as governor.

Recall that the Nigerian Supreme Court had on January 14, sacked Mr. Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and replaced him with Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who came a distant fourth in the March 9, 2019 governorship election.

Imo people have continued to cry foul play.

There had been nationwide protests last week against what many have dubbed a “judicial coup” on democracy by the justices of the apex court.

Civil society groups have also condemned that judgement and called for a reversal. Some Diaspora groups have also demanded a visa ban for the seven justices who delivered the decision.

Meanwhile, it was reported that Mr. Ihedioha will approach the Supreme Court this week to request a review of the decision, adjudged by majority of Nigerians as a miscarriage of justice.

A poll conducted by CHECKPOINTCHARLEY showed that 89.47% of Nigerians want the Supreme Court to revisit the decision.
