PDP’s Diri Sworn In As Bayelsa Governor

Diri-sworn-in

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 2019 governorship, Douye Diri, has been sworn in as governor of Bayelsa State.

This comes barely hours after he received his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Council (INEC) following a Supreme Court judgement that sacked David Lyon of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as governor-elect.

Mr. Diri was sworn in by the state Chief Judge, Justice Kate, who administered the oaths of office and allegiance on Diri in the Government House, Yenagoa, the state capital.

The state deputy governor-elect, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, also sworn in, took his oaths of office and allegiance.
