Cherechi Okonkwo, a medical doctor has been admitted to the emergency unit of the Federal Medical Center, Owerri, Imo State over injuries his wife inflicted on him during a quarrel at their residence in the World Bank area of Owerri.
The wife, a nurse, allegedly removed the husband’s upper teeth, the tip of his tongue and a part of his lower gum.
Okonkwo, a gynaecologist with FMC, Owerri, was said to be in a coma when he was brought to the hospital but later regained consciousness.
The Public Relations Officer in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, told our correspondent that the matter had not been reported to the police.
