Governor Uzodinma Attacked By Angry Imo Youths

uzodinma-attacked

Hope Uzodinma, the Imo State governor has been reportedly attacked by angry youths in the Ohaji area of the state where he went for a function on Sunday.

Upon the governor’s arrival in the area, youths of Mmahu community repeatedly shouted “Onye Oshi Vote, Onye Oshi Vote” (meaning vote thief)

They threw bottles and sticks at the Bullet proof SUV of the Governor.

Uzodinma’s bulletproof vehicle was damaged.

The governor could not attend the function he went for at Ohaji as his security details stopped him from alighting from his vehicle due to the tensed atmosphere.

The operatives then made a detour and whisked him away to safety.

The Supreme had on January 14, 2020, controversially upturned the outcome of the 2019 Imo governorship election, won by Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), replacing him with Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who came a distant fourth.

That decision had sparked protests across the nation and globally.

Mr. Ihedioha had sought a review of the absurd judgement but his application was dismissed by a seven-man panel of the apex court, led by Chief Justice of Federation, Muhammadu Tanko.

Noteworthy is that Justice Chima Nweze had dissented, saying the January 14 decision was given in bad faith. He was so frustrated by the refusal of his colleagues to allow the application for review that he said the decision will hunt Nigeria’s jurisprudence for a long time.
