Nasarawa United defender Chineme Martins died after slumping in a Nigeria Professional Football League match against Katsina United in Lafia on Sunday.
An eyewitness, who was at the Lafia Township Stadium, said the late defender slumped after a collision with a Katsina United player around the 45th minute.
According to the eye witness, efforts by the medics to revive him were unsuccessful/
“He was eventually rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead,” he said.
The League Management Company also confirmed the dead in a statement.
“We commiserate with Nasarawa United and the immediate family of the late player,” LMC Chairman Shehu Dikko said.
