
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has confirmed the first Coronavirus death in Nigeria.
The NCDC announced this via its Twitter handle, @NCDCgov, on Monday.
It tweeted, “The first #COVID19 death in Nigeria has been recorded. The case was a 67-year-old male who returned home following medical treatment in the United Kingdom.
“He had underlying medical conditions- multiple myeloma and diabetes and was undergoing chemotherapy.”
Sources have told CHECKPOINTCHALEY that that first casualty is former Managing Director of PPMC Suleiman Achimugu.
He died over night after returning from the United Kingdom two weeks ago, we were reliably informed.
He Started exhibiting symptoms on Tuesday and the family reported to the NCDC.
They came to the house and took his blood specimen but they never got back to the family.
But when yesterday afternoon, he started coughing severely, the family members called the NCDC to inquire about his results. It turned out positive.
Achimugu was reportedly picked him up and rushed him to Gwagwalada Hospital.
He died at 2am this morning.
His family members are currently under quartine in their house.
It is understood that The NCDC will handle the burial
