An unnamed 56-year-old Nigerian man has died of coronavirus in Lagos State, the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, announced on Tuesday.
According to Prof. Abayomi, the patient had visited the United States.
He said, “A 56-year-old Nigerian who recently returned from the United States has died of coronavirus-related complications. This brings the total number of #COVID19 related deaths in Lagos to six,” the commissioner said.
He also disclosed that the state had recorded 13 new cases of the infection, while 61 patients have recovered and have been discharged.
The commissioner asked Lagos residents to obey the social distancing directive and “remain on alert across communities and obey instructions aimed at containing the spread of #COVID-19 infection.”
