COVID-19: Seven New Deaths As Nigeria Near The 2,000 Mark After 204 Fresh Cases

Nigeria has recorded seven new deaths and 204 fresh cases of the coronavirus, the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) tweeted Thursday night.

This now brings the country’s total to 1,932 cases, 58 deaths and 319 recoveries. It aslo leaves Nigeria close to the 2,000 mark.

Osagie Ehanire, minister of health, listed ongoing community transmission and improved testing as possible causes of the rise in infections.

Responding to a question on the reservations about easing the lockdown when the country is recording a spike in number of cases, Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation, said it was not an easy choice for the federal government to make.

Lagos, Kano and the FCT account for 71 percent of the total number of confirmed cases.

Lagos alone has 976 confirmed coronavirus cases.
