
Nigeria’s confirmed COVID-19 cases topped 8,000 on Monday as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed 229 new cases in a tweet.
This brings the number number of infections in the country to 8,068 as the disease has spread to 34 states and the federal capital territory (FCT).
It also shows that new cases of COVID-19 exceeded 3000 in two weeks.
The number of recoveries also increased from 2,263 to 2,311, while fatalities rose from 226 to 233, NCDC said.
Lagos recorded the highest figure for Monday with 90 new cases.
