Mohammed Umar Takes Over At EFCC As Acting Chairman

Mohammed-Umar

The era of Ibrahim Magu at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, appears to be over as Head of Operations, Mohammed Umar, has resumed as the acting chairman of the agency.

Umar, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, was the second most senior official at EFCC.

Magu was arrested on Monday and taken to the presidential villa in Abuja where he was grilled by a panel set up by President Muhammadu Buhari to probe the EFCC.

The panel is led by Ayo Salami, retired president of the appeal court.

Mr. Magu is accused of corruption and insubordination.
