BREAKING: Many Inmates Feared Dead After Failed Jail Break At Ikoyi Prisons

CHECKPOINTCHARLEY is in possession of photos and videos suggesting that many inmates may have been killed during Tuesday’s failed jail break at Ikoyi Prisons, Lagos Nigeria.

The Nigerian Government said it has been able to control an attempted jailbreak at the Ikoyi Custodial Correctional Centre in Lagos.

It added that no inmate was able to escape as security operatives swiftly moved in to calm the situation in the facility.

The Ministry of Interior tweeted that firefighters are on ground extinguishing the inferno.

“The situation at the Ikoyi Custodial Centre is under control!

“Armed squads of the @CorrectionsNg, @CIVILDEFENDERS, @PoliceNG and men of the Nigerian Army are providing security at the facility. @Fedfireng is dealing with the fire.

“Ignore rumours of inmate escaping,” the ministry tweeted.

Trouble reportedly started on Thursday morning following a disagreement between an inmate and official of the prison.

CHECKPOINTCHARLEY cannot independently confirm the authenticity of the graphic photos and videos.

But a reliable source said that at least 13 inmates were killed.

Efforts to get an official response was fruitless as at the time of filing this report.
