Gunmen have kidnapped the Auxillary Bishop of Owerri Catholic Archdiocese, Moses Chikwe, alongside his driver at the World Bank area of Owerri.
The Police spokesperson in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, have confirmed the incident, saying though no official complaint had been reported at any of the police formations in the state, the state commissioner of Police, Isaac Akinmoyede, had activated the tactical units of the command to rescue the kidnapped bishop. .
The bishop and his driver in his car were said to have been abducted on Monday by the gunmen and taken to an unknown location.
Hours after they were kidnapped, the vehicle in which they were travelling was found in front of the archdiocesan headquarters in Owerri.
