
Many people are reportedly dead in a shootout between soldiers and armed bandits in Kabasa Village of Magami District in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
No fewer than three soldiers and four others were said to have died in the shootout which occurred.
“The whole community was thrown into pandemonium as several other residents trying to escape the attack were injured. Seven people were confirmed dead in the attack,” a resident identified Saminu Usman told Daily Trust.
Zamfara State governor , Bello Mohammed Matawalle, confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday by the state commissioner of information, Ibrahim Dosara, saying he received with shock “the report of an attack by some recalcitrant bandits who unleashed mayhem on innocent people” in Kabasa village of Magami district in Gusau Local Government Area of the state.
Though he did not give the actual number of casualties.
“The government has already directed security agencies in the state to carry out a full investigation into the incident and report back to the government for action.
“People of the affected community in particular and the state in general, are also advised to remain law-abiding and go about their normal businesses”
