
Armed bandits have attacked communities in two local government areas of Birnin Gwari and Giwa of Kaduna State, killing nine persons, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, said.
The attacks were carried out on Thursday, however he did not say when exactly they happened.
The commissioner said security reports stated that the heavily-armed bandits barricaded the Dogon Dawa-Kuyello Road, after Ungwan Gajere village in Birnin Gwari LGA and shot six persons dead.
Mr. Aruwan gave the names of those killed as Nura Rufai, Sanusi Gajere, Yakubu Labbo, Usman Dangiwa, Alhaji Abdulhamid, Janaidu Tsalhatu.
At Ungwan Maje in Birnin Gwari LGA, the bandits killed two persons – Haruna Dotu and Hamisu Mohammad, he added.
According to him, one Nasiru Rufai was also killed by bandits at Kwama village in Giwa LGA.
This comes as some stakeholders in the North are clamouring for dialogue with the bandits.
