
A female rice farmer, Amaka Okafor, has been attacked by herdsmen in Ayede Ogbese, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State on Wednesday, who inflicted machete cuts on her and left her unconscious.
The herdsmen reportedly met the woman on her farm and wanted to graze on the farm but she tried to stop them from destroying her rice plantation. A quarell was said to have erupted and the herdsmen allegedly inflicted machete cut injuries on the woman, leaving her unconscious on the farm and ran away.
The 37-year-old woman was, with machete cuts on her head and hands, was rushed to a hospital for treatment and is said to be recuperating.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the incident, saying the command had commenced investigation into the matter.
