
Thousands of Nigerians are still trapped in Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State with their lives in danger 72 hours after Boko Haram invaded the town, Ali Kolo the local government chairman has cried out, saying two people were slaughtered on Sunday by the terrorists.
Mr. Kolo said a teacher, Mallam Baba Tazira was among the two slaughtered.
According to him, over 2,000 people were currently taking refuge in neighbouring Yunusari Local Government Area.
He expressed shock over the military’s statement on Saturday that the attack had been repelled with 21 casualties from the side of the terrorists.
“As we speak, two people, including a teacher at Kawuri Primary school, Mallam Baba Tazira, were slaughtered this morning (Sunday), and this is in addition to dozens of people who were killed, injured, displaced and missing since the attack three days ago,” he said.
The Director General of Yobe State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Mohammed Goje, also confirmed that over 2,000 people had fled Geidam into Yunusari LGA.
