Gunmen Kill Commissioner, Abduct LG Chairman In Kogi

Gunmen have killed Adebayo Solomon, the Pension Board Commissioner in Kogi State, police confirmed on Sunday.

While the commissioner was reportedly killed, the Chairman of Yagba East Local Government, Pius Kolawole and some others were kidnapped.

The incident happened on Saturday.

It was gathered that Solomon was travelling from Ilorin to Kabba when some armed men opened fire at his vehicle at Eruku village, a few kilometres to Egbe the border town between Kwara and Kogi.

His remains had been deposited at ECWA Hospital, Egbe, while the whereabouts of Kolawole remained unknown, as at the time of filing this report.

The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Ede, said an investigation into the incident had begun.

The abduction of the chairman may not be unconnected with his concerted efforts to rid his local government area of hoodlums suspected to be herdsmen terrorising the area.
