Armed bandits have killed a driver and abducted 33 persons, including a pregnant woman, in an attack on Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The incident which happened on Wednesday night left several others wounded.
District Head of Kachia ward, Idris Suleiman confirmed the attack on Thursday when security operatives led by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan visited the area.
Suleiman said the bandits invaded the community at about 9pm, in large numbers and started shooting sporadically.
According to him, they first attacked a bakery where they kidnaped five persons and killed the driver to the owner of the bakery, before moving to another area called Mother Cat, where they also kidnapped 28 persons including a pregnant woman.
he added that the bandits also looted many shops in the town after the owners ran for their lives, following the indiscriminate shooting.
