
No fewer than 25 persons have been killed and 14 others wounded along Rukuba road in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau state.
The incident happened on Saturday morning when a group of attackers reportedly confronted a convoy of five buses containing passengers travelling from Bauchi enroute Jos to Ikare in Ondo state.
It was gathered that the travellers ran into a crowd of sympathisers that were in procession for the mass burial of those killed in a Miango attack last week.
Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong has condemned the attack in a statement signed by spokesperson Simon Makut, warning troublemakers bent on formenting trouble in the state to desist as the government will not allow any form of lawlessness to disrupt the peace of the state.
He vowed that attacks on innocent citizens, no their matter their background, will never be tolerated in the State.
The statement said the governor has also directed security agencies to swiftly identify and arrest perpetrators.
According to the spokesperson of Operation Safe Haven, Major Ishaku Takwa, 12 persons have been arrested in connection with the incident.
