
The management of the Federal University Lafia (FULafia) says none of their students were abducted by bandits, contrary to media reports.
Abubakar Ibrahim, Head, Information and Public Relations of the institution made the clarification in a statement on Tuesday.
“None of our students was involved in the recent abduction which took place at Mararraban Akunza community near the take-off site campus of the university,” the statement said
The spokesman, however, noted that during the attack some persons not students of its institution were abducted by unknown gunmen.
The management of FULafia assured parents that adequate security measures have been put in place to protect students in their two campuses, including those staying in the hostels.
The Nasarawa Police Command also confirmed that students abducted were not students of FULafia.
The police spokesperson said one of the victims was a graduate of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, while the second is a student at Al-Qalam University, Katsina.
