Gunmen have killed a village head, Alhaji Jafaru Rabi’u, and abducted a yet-to-be-identified lady. at Daddara Liman, Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The incident happened on Wednesday night.
The gunmen, suspected to be terrorists, also killed four other people at the nearby Daddara village located within the same Council.
Residents said at the two villages, the terrorists ransacked houses and looted personal effects and money.
The Spokesman for the Katsina Police Command, Gambo Isah, confirmed the incident.
He said the DPO in the area along with military personnel who were alerted of the attack engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun duel before they (the terrorists) were chased away.
The police spokesman said, “The bandits carrying sophisticated weapons invaded the village (Daddara Liman) around 11.30 p.m on Wednesday and started shooting.
“The DPO and military personnel chased them away. Five people, including the village head, were killed while one person is missing.”
